Postion: USSBA Texas Regional Manager

The growth of the US Scholastic Band Association in Texas over the past few years has been rapid, yet the organization has been able to keep the quality and consistency to its participating music programs relatively the same.

As we look toward the future and more expansion to serve this exciting and dynamic state in new and innovative ways, we have reached the level of school participation where the creation of a position as USSBA Regional Manager for Texas will help us construct the foundation for many years to come.

While not a full-time paid position, we are seeking qualified individuals with a passion for marching band, drum corps and all forms of scholastic music who are problem-solvers and have a spirit of entrepreneurship and organization about them, to be the official USSBA representative on the ground in Texas year-round.

There is a stipend associated with the position commensurate with experience and this is a perfect opportunity for someone who would like to give a few weekends annually to a high energy organization and work on administrative tasks throughout the remainder of the year.  While geography is not a determining factor, travel to the five major regions of the state will be necessary.  Travel will be reimbursed per USSBA policy.

Responsibilities would include a multitude of assignments and tasks all supported by the USSBA home office in Allentown, Pa.  Included in these responsibilities would be:

  • Recruiting, Training and Assignments of Event Staff Personnel including Event Managers, Coordinators, Assistant Coordinators, Tabulators and Finance Managers for the four-week fall marching band season.
  • Working each of the four USSBA Fall competitive weekends in Texas as Event Manager.
  • Recruiting, Training and Assignments of Merchandise Personnel for the fall.
  • Coordination and Logistics of Merchandise for the four-week Texas fall marching band season includes inventory management and distribution tasks.
  • Attendance at Texas Music Education Conferences annually in San Antonio.
  • Meetings and Conferences with Band Directors throughout the state.
  •
