Cost: Free

Ages: Students in 4th–8th grades; no prerequisites

Meetings:  Tuesdays from 6–7:30 p.m. March–June at South Mountain Middle School

Learn: Drumming basics, flag-spinning basics, or improve skills needed for marching band—also an excellent form of exercise

Goals: Teamwork, use free time productively, learn marching band skills, progress to the bands at Allen and Dieruff high schools

Performances: Summer parades, festivals and other local events

ABOUT THE GROUP
Youth Education in the Arts is proud to continue this locally-based youth program to develop life skills through musical performance. The goal of this group is to provide young students with a positive and FUN first experience in a marching ensemble.

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
After months of practice, beginning in May the Lehigh Valley Youth Drumline performs in various local parades, festivals and other special events throughout the summer.

PRACTICE METHOD
In order to make the most of our short rehearsals we have committed ourselves to a strick rehearsal method that helps us learn more skills and music faster. Below are the 5 steps we use during rehearsal to help us maximize our rehearsal time. For a detailed description of the practice method go to our download music link for the complete document.

Step 2 - Listen for directions

Step 3 - 8 and GO! 

Step 4 - FREEZE and LISTEN

Step 5 - Repeat or Relax
