New Box Truck added to Cadets' fleet

Vehicle will be phased into 2010 season

The Cadets new box truck sits outside the corps's offices Thursday afternoon.

The Cadets Transportation Fleet now has a new member of the family! The papers were signed earlier this week and on Thursday the corps’ new 2006 Ford E 450 Super Duty Diesel Box Truck was delivered to the administrative offices in Allentown, Pa.

With 44,000 miles on the odometer, the truck is in perfect condition, said Transportation Manager Tim Gallagher. This vehicle will become the new Cadets box truck that pulls the souvenir trailer during summer tour.

Now with 250,000 miles, showing its age and adorned with the old Cadets’ script logo, the previous truck will be used for Youth Education in the Arts and US Scholastic Band Association programs.

“We’ll keep the old one in the fleet until repair costs become too great to warrant keeping it on the road,” said Gallagher. “At that point, we will sell it to the highest bidder.”

Plans are now in the works to put the Cadets new logo, yet to be revealed, on all the fleet vehicles.

The box truck is the result of the many generous donations made by supporters during the 75th Anniversary Buckle Campaign.
