Rainy Weather May Cause Some Slight Changes
As dawn broke on the first day of the 2009 USSBA Kick-off Weekend, the skies remain cloudy with misty conditions throughout the New Jersey/Pennsylvania areas. The forecast for the day is for the slow moving storm to head out over the ocean during the day Saturday with cloudy skies, but clearing from south to north.
Regarding the events, all events ARE going to run BUT, depending on the weather and specifically the state of the fields, some could be inside or standstill outside. Be assured there is a rain plan for all.
Here is a basic review on the shows this weekend
NORTH PENN --- As of 3:30PM Friday this show will not be on the main field, they have a turf field with small stands. This was the same set-up last year and should run fine. Confirmed for outside on turf field and small stands mid-morning. Start time of 5PM.
SCOTCH PLAINS Turf field so should be ok! Will go inside if there is rain still falling. Update on Saturday 8AM was a light mist, but the Scotch Plains folks had spoken with other bands and conditions seem to be fine for a full show outside.
HUNTERDON CENTRAL Turf Field so should be ok. Will go inside if there is rain still falling. Update on Saturday 8AM is the same with a late afternoon start time, full outside event is planned.
WESTMINSTER, MD --- Show will be a standstill outside. The football game took a toll on the turf which will not recover in time for the 4PM start time. Judges and clinicians will provide commentary and critique on the musical aspects of the band's programs.
ROCKVILLE, CT Rain has not have cleared as of this morning, but an indoor venue is available in a brand new auditorium. Awaiting Saturday AM update. Start time of 7PM
MANCHESTER, NJ We have been reassured the conditions are fine for the show. 5PM Start time.
Keep in touch with the YEA! website for the latest news regarding the potential weather impact on all of these events and have a great USSBA Kick-off Weekend.
